About the Artist
Margaret Ellis Nachshen CSPWC SCA
Born in Wirral, Cheshire, England and educated in England, Scotland and Canada, Margaret originally pursued a career as a physiotherapist and was a member of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy based in London, England.
While working in Montreal at the Montreal Childrens’ Hospital and the Mackay Centre, Margaret took art classes at the Saidye Bronfman Centre. She then studied at Concordia University where she received a BA with distinction in studio art and creative writing.
Margaret is a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Society of Canadian Artists and she has served as a juror for both of these organizations. Her work has been featured in many art magazines and in the book ‘ ‘Splash’ A Celebration of Light, The Best of Watercolor ‘. She has won numerous national and international awards.
Most recently, she exhibited with the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour in Toronto at the John B. Aird Gallery on Bay St. and in ‘ Celebrating 90 Years. Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour Members Past and Present’ at John A. Libby Fine Art.
In 2016, in New York, her work was shown at the American Artists Professional League Grand National Exhibit at the Salmagundi Club, and at the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Exhibit at the National Arts Club where she was awarded the Edgar A. Whitney Memorial Award.
In May, her painting can be seen in the Canadian Society of Artists Exhibition ‘Be Square’ at the Art Square Gallery, Toronto, across from the AGO
